What Makes the Butterfly Mark So Special?
The Positive Luxury Butterfly Mark is recognised around the world as one of the luxury industry's most respected sustainability certifications. It identifies brands that are making measurable progress for both people and nature through independently verified environmental, social and governance performance.
The assessment is built on internationally recognised frameworks, global sustainability standards and evolving legislation, ensuring brands are measured against robust, future-focused criteria rather than marketing claims.
What makes the Butterfly Mark particularly meaningful is the rigour of its assessment process. Evidence must be provided across a comprehensive range of sustainability issues and, to achieve certification, companies must score a minimum of 50% in each of the three pillars - Environment, Social and Governance. This makes the Butterfly Mark a genuinely demanding certification to achieve.
Against that benchmark, Wellicious' certified score of 95 is 90% above the certification standard - something we are immensely proud of.
Certification is also not permanent. Every two years, companies must undergo a new assessment against even higher standards, ensuring continuous improvement and ongoing accountability. The Butterfly Mark isn't simply about where a business is today, it's about demonstrating a genuine commitment to becoming even better tomorrow.
