1- What does Cradle to Cradle fashion mean?
Cradle to Cradle fashion ensures that the entire life cycle of a product, from design and production to decomposition, is created so the product can be fully recycled or safely returned to nature. While many fibres are naturally compostable, most conventional fabrics are blended with synthetics or coated with chemicals that make them linger in the environment for hundreds of years.
At Wellicious, all yarns, fabrics and dyeing processes are chosen so that every item can biodegrade safely, without leaving behind toxins or harmful substances.
2- When will my Wellicious Cradle to Cradle Certified® products start to decompose?
begin to break down when very specific biological and chemical conditions are present, none of which occur in your home. So you can wear them, wash them and love them without a single worry.
3- Because they biodegrade, are Wellicious Cradle to Cradle Certified® products low quality?
Not at all. In fact, quite the opposite. We partner with some of the best European suppliers to ensure our yoga and activewear is beautifully made, long lasting and luxurious to wear. Biodegradability does not mean disposable. It means responsible.
4- What are the steps to making a Wellicious product certified and safe for biological systems?
Unlike other certifications, which tend to focus on a singular measure of sustainability, Cradle to Cradle certified® encompasses all aspects of products design and manufacturing and looks at the bigger picture. To be considered safe for biological systems, a product must meet five strict standards:
- Material Health
Materials must be safe for both humans and the environment.
- Product Circularity
Products must be designed to contribute to circular systems and regenerative processes.
- Clean air & Climate Protection
Manufacturing must reduce emissions, promote renewable energy and protect clean air.
- Water & Soil Stewardship
Water must be responsibly managed, and soil health protected.
- Social Fairness
Human rights, safe working conditions and fair practices are essential.
5- Are Wellicious products Cradle to Cradle Certified®?
Yes. Our products have gone through a long, rigorous certification process by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, an independent, globally recognised organisation that evaluates whether products are truly fit for the circular economy.
6- Why is the Elastane used by Wellicious safe for biological systems and non-toxic?
Our elastane is C2C Certified with a Material Health Certificate at Gold level. It meets the highest standards of safety for both humans and the environment. Unlike traditional elastane, ours can break down naturally without releasing toxins, allowing garments to return to nature as safe biological nutrients.
