Wellicious was founded in London in 2007, at a time when sustainability was still embraced by only a few in the fashion industry. Our founder, Heike, a self-proclaimed sustainability warrior and mother of three, was inspired from an early age by her grandmother Maria’s commitment to sustainable living, and by her parents’ many years in Eastern Africa, where they lived close to nature.

These early influences shaped Heike’s vision to combine her love of yoga and fitness with the belief that true style should respect both personal health and the planet.

From the outset, Wellicious has manufactured exclusively in Europe. Since 2009, we have used certified organic cotton and non-toxic dyes, with our collections stocked by leading retailers including Harrods, Galeries Lafayette, KaDeWe, and Sport Schuster. Creating a circular fashion brand that benefits both people and planet has always been at the heart of our journey.

This vision was further strengthened during Heike’s studies in sustainable supply chains at Cambridge University. Our mission became clear: to create long-lasting, circular yoga and activewear that encourages reuse and recycling while eliminating waste and pollution.

What once felt impossible, a fully transparent and biodegradable activewear collection that is safe for biological systems and returns to nature as nutrients, became a reality after six years of extensive research and the creation of innovative circular fabrics. Since our relaunch in 2022, our garments are completely toxin free, do not shed microplastics, and are designed to be gentle on your skin and kind to the planet.

Inspired by the colours of the ocean, our collection reflects our commitment to Cradle to Cradle Certified® design. Our latest range is Cradle to Cradle Certified® Gold, with Platinum level achieved for material health.
