Don’t forget to pack your yoga clothes before heading off on holiday

If you’re getting ready to set off on a well-earned vacation, you might want to pack yoga wear to take with you. After all, there’s nothing to stop you from getting stuck into some of these exercises while you’re away from home.

Retreat

True, you might be hundreds or even thousands of miles away from your normal class, but you can always go through your routine in your apartment or hotel room and special vacation yoga sessions are becoming more common. You might even decide to pack up your women’s yoga tops and trousers and head to a special retreat where you can really let your passion for these exercises come to the fore. One woman who recently enjoyed a vacation like this is the Daily Mail’s Lucy Kite. She headed to the Gecko Beach Club in Ibiza, which is a special retreat located a 30-minute boat ride from Ibiza Town.

No ordinary retreat

When you think of yoga retreats, you might picture strict places where people are encouraged to drink only water and eat the very healthiest of foods. However, this resort is different. Commenting on her experiences, Ms Kite said: “This isn’t your typical yoga retreat. Here there is food, fun and as much guilt-free wine as you desire.” She added that people go on this break to be “nurtured, recharged and feel human again”.

A range of abilities

Meanwhile, if you think you have to be a yoga expert to head off on adventures like this, you’re  wrong. The journalist noted that people of all abilities and levels of experience rolled out their yoga exercise mats at the retreat. Ms Kite pointed out that during the first session of yoga, it become obvious that class members ranged “from yoga virgins to advanced teachers”.

Calmer and more toned

Commenting on her and her fellow holidaymakers’ experiences during the trip, the writer stated: “Ultimately we all feel so much better. I certainly feel calmer, more focused and toned, and my skin is glowing. I am looking forward to going home to see if anyone notices the spring in my step and I can't wait to use my new ideas in the yoga classes I run.” She added: “I made some wonderful friends. If you are looking to press ‘pause’ on your busy world and re-energise, then look no further. This holiday does come with a health warning though: it’s likely to improve it... forever!”
