Hula Hooping - Notalgia gets you fit in autumn

Who would have thought they would be playing with Hula Hoops past their 10. Birthday? Well, Wellicious would like to introduce you to Hula-Hooping, the latest fitness craze amongst the stylish and health conscious, and according to US Vogue magazine, ‘Hoopnotica’ Sessions in LA already have waiting lists ‘worthy of a fashion item’. In the UK, Virgin Active health clubs have also caught on this trend and exclusively offer Hulaerobic workouts, which were developed with Californian Hula-Guru Christabel Zamor. An average hooping session could burn an impressive 100 calories per 10 minutes, while working out your abs, hips and buttocks. The physical benefits of this nostalgic yet updated exercise form are very similar to those of Pilates. It’s about core-stability, posture and strengthening the pelvic floor, but additionally, it will also improve your cardio ability. Though you will have to use a bigger and slightly heavier ‘grown-up’ gym hoop to achieve the desired effects. All in all a fun, well-rounded mixture of body aerobics and midriff sculpturing so have fun and try it for yourself!
